Review: The Planet Cruise A dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River with The Planet Cruise offers a luxurious and romantic experience that should not be missed. The evening atmosphere, with its stunning riverside scenery, makes the journey even more enchanting. Although it was a bit late this time, the views were still incredibly beautiful. We highly recommend booking in advance, especially during long weekends or festive seasons.
Before boarding, please collect your ticket first. (Advance booking is required for all cruises.) The ticket counter and registration point are located at ASIATIQUE The Riverfront, between Warehouse 7–8. For this trip, we took The Planet Cruise, evening service from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM (2 hours). Registration is available from 6:30 PM – 7:45 PM. We suggest arriving at least 30 minutes before departure to avoid any rush. Please also plan your travel time in advance, as Bangkok traffic can be unpredictable and may cause delays.
We’ve got our tickets! (Please keep them safe, as you’ll need them later.) If you arrive early, you can stroll around, take photos, or enjoy some shopping. The market area is quite large, so just exploring and taking pictures can take a while. But don’t forget to keep an eye on the time — the cruise usually arrives right on schedule.
The boat is here! It’s now 8:00 PM and we’re ready to board. The queue is a bit long since it’s a large cruise and the year-end season attracts many visitors, both locals and international travelers.
Once on board, we were warmly welcomed by staff dressed beautifully in traditional Thai outfits. After that, we headed to our table. We booked a rooftop table—though not right by the edge, as those were already full—but the view was still stunning. On the table, a welcome drink (a glass of fruit juice) was provided, along with chilled water served throughout the cruise.
If you can’t find your table, simply show your ticket to the staff and they’ll be happy to assist. The atmosphere on the boat is elegant, with both an air-conditioned indoor area and an open-air outdoor section where you can fully enjoy the cool breeze and panoramic river views.
Let’s start with a glimpse of the rooftop view—no words needed once you see the photos. Absolutely stunning. The cruise route passes several iconic landmarks such asWat Arun, The Grand Palace, andRama VIII Bridge. Each site, beautifully illuminated at night and reflecting on the water, creates a scene that is truly captivating and wonderfully romantic.
Although the seats along the very edge of the rooftop offer the best views, I personally think any rooftop seat is lovely. It’s easy to take great photos from almost anywhere, and you’re free to walk around and capture different angles as you like.
After enjoying the rooftop views, let’s take a look at the open-air seating on the second level. The scenery is just as impressive, and the décor is stunning—sparkling lights everywhere. Even the staircase is picture-perfect.
Now, on to the entertainment! During the cruise, you can enjoylive musicthat creates a relaxing atmosphere, along withtraditional Thai cultural performances.On The Planet Cruise, there is even aKhon (Thai masked dance)performance, adding a special cultural touch to the entire experience.
Of course, we can’t end this review without talking about the food and drinks. The cruise offers a wide variety of dishes, featuring both an international buffet and flavorful Thai cuisine (though taste preferences may vary from person to person).
Highlighted dishes include Green Curry, Grilled River Prawns, Sushi, Salmon Sashimi, traditional Thai desserts, and many more. There are also alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available.
(Please note: alcoholic drinks and additional beverages—except chilled water, hot tea, and hot coffee—are not included in the cruise price and can be purchased separately.)
There are so many dishes to choose from—it’s almost overwhelming! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves; there’s no way I could describe everything. 😂
And that’s just some of the food on board. There was simply too much to capture it all! Overall, the dishes looked great, and while the flavors weren’t too strong or spicy, it’s understandable since the buffet is designed to suit everyone’s palate. The food was tasty and enjoyable.
